The Juice Academy Launches Graduate Social Media Job Creation Programme
The Juice Academy has announced it has secured funding from Creative Skillset to launch the first ever graduate version of its multi award-winning social media apprenticeship, which is now open to applications from both employers and graduates.
The programme aims to create at least 15 roles in businesses in the North West (leading creative businesses such as BJL, Smoking Gun PR, and Social Chain are already signed up). The Juice Academy – the digital training and job creation sister company to integrated communications consultancy, Tangerine – will use its tried and tested ‘boot camp’ assessment centre model to place graduates in the roles and will then train them in the essential social media skills their new employers need.
Sandy Lindsay MBE, founder and chair of Tangerine and The Juice Academy explained: “Every time we open our doors to a new cohort of apprentices, we are bombarded with applications from graduates, desperate for a foot in the door of our amazing sector and, until now – due to the government’s funding rules – we couldn’t help them.
“The programme will see the graduates working with their employers for six months and coming to The Juice Academy one day per week for the first three months for training by our tutors and guest speakers. This will be followed by a three month intensive period within their employers and a final assessment at the end of month six. Our hope is that the employers will be so impressed with the graduates that they’ll offer them a permanent role at the end of the programme (as 93% of our apprentice employers do) but there’s no obligation to do so.”

Employers will pay graduates a tax-free training allowance of £1,000 pcm (equivalent to a salary of approx. £13,000).
The training will cover the key skills and knowledge a social media/digital practitioner needs to be an essential part of any marketing team or creative agency, as well as the ‘softer skills’ of being a member of a busy team, such as resilience, communication skills and core office skills. - Use digital and social media in marketing campaigns (elements)
- Imaging software
- Principles of Social Media within a Business
- Principles of keywords and optimisation
- Social Networking Management for a business
- Using collaborative technologies
- Principles of Mobile Social Media for a business
- Principles of Social Media advertising and promotion
- Understanding Customer Relationship Management for creative business
