InterfaceFLOR rolls out its most sustainable carpet for Ecobuild 2012

(20th-22nd March 2012, on The UK GBC Village)
Showcases products that demonstrate its commitment to keep pushing the boundaries in its Mission Zero quest for zero environmental impact by 2020

InterfaceFLOR, a worldwide leader in the design and manufacture of high-quality carpet tiles, is set to present its latest most sustainable products in partnership with The UK Green Building Council (UK GBC) at this year’s Ecobuild. The company will carpet the entire UK GBC Village Green with a bespoke, on-trend design that showcases the diversity, innovation and environmental credentials of its product portfolio.

Products showcased will include industry firsts as well as a brand new collection, all of which have all been designed to reduce their impact on the environment. Sustainability features comprise recycled content in the pile yarn and backing, including used carpet tiles reclaimed through the company’s pioneering ReEntry 2.0 recycling process, random installation to minimise waste, Microtuft construction which uses less yarn, and Cool Carpet, which means a product’s carbon emissions are offset during its entire lifecycle.

Steve Hamilton, Director UK and Ireland, InterfaceFLOR says, “We will have a very striking presence at Ecobuild with flooring that brings to life the colours and the ethos of our Go Beyond campaign. This is effectively our commitment to keep going beyond current business models, processes and solutions in order to achieve Mission Zero and eliminate our impact on the environment by 2020. So, expect to see products that are industry firsts, products based on technologies that we have pioneered and products that, quite simply, people said just weren’t possible.”

InterfaceFLOR’s Ecobuild flooring design will feature the following products:

• The company’s brand new Syncopation 2, a range of striking designs that combine different textures to great effect. Most of the products in the range use 100% recycled content thus reducing environmental impact;
• Biosfera 1, the industry’s first carpet tile collection to include 100% recycled yarn, made from a combination of post industrial and post consumer raw material from sources including InterfaceFLOR’s own products. The collection features InterfaceFLOR’s TacTiles as standard, an innovative glue-less installation system that helps to maintain good indoor air quality;
• Interface-pioneered random design products such as Scribble and Straightforward that can be laid non-directionally for faster installation, easy replacement and minimal waste;
• Products including Paradox II that are based on Interface’s unique Microtuft technology. These contain up to 50% less oil-based yarn than other products yet maintain high performance.
