Public Affairs

Tangerine Public Affairs is an exciting new offering from Tangerine, advising businesses and organisations on how to effectively communicate with government and decision-makers locally, in the region, or in Westminster.

In a special podcast, downloadable here, I discuss Gordon Brown’s new cabinet with Jim Hancock, former NW political editor of the BBC.

The last couple of weeks have seen other significant changes to the political landscape.

A new Business Leadership Council, will bring together leading businesspeople like Alan Sugar and Richard Branson to advise the government on the changes they need to make to be more responsive to the concerns of businesspeople all around the UK. In fact, the old Department of Trade and Industry has even been renamed the Department for Business Enterprise and Regulatory Reform, with North West MP John Hutton as its new Secretary of State.

A re-organisation of education departments has also put a new emphasis on skills, with John Denham in charge of a new department for Innovation, Universities and Skills. Schools new belong to a different department, something skills and education practitioners aren’t entirely happy about, but will it produce for business a greater focus on their needs?
