Top of Class at National Apprenticeship Service and IoD Awards

Tangerine’s reputation as a major apprentice employer continues to grow, after it triumphed at the National Apprenticeship Service North West Regional Awards on 22 October 2015.

The consultancy brought home gold in the Medium Employer of the Year category, for its role in creating The Juice Academy, the UK’s first industry-led social media apprenticeship. The scheme aims to train the next generation of digital communications professionals through work placements with employers, including JW Lees, Pets at Home, BJL, Footy Accumulators and Greater Manchester Police.

Judges were particularly impressed by the number of job opportunities created by Tangerine since founding the apprenticeship scheme. To date, more than 100 young people have been placed through The Juice Academy and itself employs a number of current and former apprentices.

Speaking about the win, Sandy Lindsay, Tangerine’s founder and chair, explained: “Nurturing the digital talent of the future has always been a topic close to my heart. This is precisely why we launched The Juice Academy two years ago, to create new opportunities for young people and help close the skills gap in commercial social media. To be honoured in this way, alongside some of the North West’s biggest employers is testament to the expertise and hard work of everyone on The Juice Academy team.”

The National Apprenticeship Service Awards recognise excellence in businesses that grow their own talent through apprenticeships and the apprentices who have made a significant contribution to their workplaces. Winners of the 11 regional heats will now progress to the national stage, where a panel of judges will choose the top three from each category to become National Finalists. The finalists will find out if they have won the UK awards at a ceremony held on the 26 January 2016 at Grosvenor House, London.

In addition, Sandy Lindsay has been highly commended in the Institute of Directors (IoD) National Director of the Year Awards in the SME category. Hosted by the IoD, the national organisation for company directors, the accolade recognises the best company leaders in their field.
