Sandy Lindsay, founder of integrated communications agency, Tangerine, has been shortlisted as SME Company Director of the Year in the Institute of Directors (IoD) national Director of the Year awards 2015.

The Director of the Year awards recognise directors across the UK who are at the forefront of leadership excellence. Awards are given for the best directors in a variety of fields, from big corporations and SMEs, to not-for-profit groups and public sector organisations.

Sandy was announced SME Director of the Year at the IoD North West Awards in February 2015, the only communications professional to make the nominees list. The shortlist for the national awards is selected from regional winners.

Speaking about the nomination, Sandy explained: “Ever since I founded Tangerine, I’ve been committed to providing the best possible support to clients, which we’ve delivered through creativity and dedication to strong values. Thanks to these principles, which are shared by every colleague, Tangerine has become a truly exciting agency, creating ambitious and impactful campaigns for clients.

“It’s an incredible honour to be nominated for such a prestigious award, but Tangerine wouldn’t be the success it is without so many people like my business partner, Sarah Halton, and my two MDs at Tangerine, Mary Harding and Sam Gregory. We’ve shown what an ethically run communications consultancy can achieve, and it’s superb to see this success recognised by a leading business organisation.”

The IoD award shortlist follows a successful year for both Sandy and Tangerine. In June, Sandy was honoured with an MBE in the 2015 Queen’s birthday honours list for services to business and young people, with particular recognition for her work setting up The Juice Academy. Tangerine’s B2B team recently received an EMEA SABRE Award in the Real Estate and Construction sector with Barbour ABI for its Building Informed Intelligence Campaign. Tangerine’s Juice Academy also won three prizes in the national Top Employers for School and College Leavers Award 2015, including the title of ‘Best Advanced Apprenticeship’.

The winners of the IoD Director of the Year Awards will be announced on the 23rd October 2015 in a ceremony at the Lancaster London Hotel, London.
