Night of Awards for Tangerine’s #Team999 Campaign

Leading integrated communications consultancy, Tangerine, kicked off 2015 with a bang, as the team took home two awards at the inaugural Northern Digital Awards on Thursday 22nd January.

In recognition of the #Team999 campaign for the North West Ambulance Service, Tangerine picked up the ‘Best Digital Marketing Campaign – Public Sector’ and ‘Best Integrated Campaign’ gongs at the prestigious award ceremony held at the Royal Armouries in Leeds.

The campaign, which launched in September 2013 to February 2014, aimed to reduce emergency calls and build understanding and awareness of the various elements of the ambulance service and what they do.

In the six month period, Tangerine generated a 1,100% increase in #Team999 Twitter mentions and a 148% increase in Facebook likes. Most importantly, the North West Ambulance Service saw a five per cent reduction in emergency calls following the campaign.

Commenting on the awards, the judges said: “The ‘Best Digital Marketing Campaign – Public Sector’ was a really competitive category, but this campaign was challenging in an important area to work in. Tangerine produced a really strong strategy and great results.

“The ‘Best Integrated Campaign’ award was awarded to #Team999 particularly for the creativity and the choice of medium. They were blessed with great content, but the choice of channels and the way they integrated them really delivered”.

Sarah Smith, associate director, strategic communications, added: “The #Team999 campaign was the start of a conversation with the public about the services we provide to them daily.

“It was extremely well received and supported by our staff who have asked us to invest in public education, as it helps them to do their jobs of ‘delivering the right care, at the right time, in the right place’ better, by pushing the message that calling 999 will not always result in an ambulance attending or being taken to hospital.”
