Manchester Central Appoints Tangerine

Manchester’s leading international convention complex, Manchester Central, has appointed CIPR agency of the year, Tangerine, to shape and implement a PR strategy that will raise the profile of the world-class facility locally, regionally, nationally and internationally, and illustrate why it is one of the UK’s top three business venues.

Following the completion of a three-year £30 million redevelopment, which was partly funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), Manchester Central has been transformed into a facility that rivals the best convention complexes across the globe, and a showpiece, not just for Manchester, but the whole of the UK.

Paula Lorimer, sales director and deputy CEO of Manchester Central, explained: “The Manchester Central site has a long and high profile history as a landmark for Manchester across the UK. However, the Manchester Central that we see today takes that legacy to a whole new, global level.

“With the redevelopment complete, our focus now is to continue enticing the biggest and best events to the complex and the city, and establish it as a landmark for business locally, regionally, nationally and internationally, which Tangerine is going to help us achieve.”

Tangerine’s remit is to handle ongoing media relations and develop a programme of creative campaigns that will make sure Manchester Central’s brand and reputation matches its impressive offer. Led by the agency’s B2B team, the strategic programme will target the local community, as well as the conference sector and the wider business community.

Sam Gregory, Tangerine’s MD, B2B, said: “Manchester Central has come a long way in recent years and we are incredibly excited about working with the team to build its profile as a globally renowned conference venue. With a broad target audience, which has diverse perceptions about the facility and its offer, it’s a complex PR challenge, but exactly the type we specialise in and relish.”
